The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono (HB) X has approved the use of Maguwoharjo Stadium in Sleman as the headquarters of PSIM Yogyakarta during the Liga 1 competition next season.
"In Yogyakarta, the one that has FIFA standards and the one that has been renovated is Sleman (Maguwoharjo Stadium). So how can the 'basecamp' also be used," said Sultan after receiving an audience with PSIM Management at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta.
According to him, stadiums in the DIY region should not be limited to teams from certain districts or cities. As long as they meet the requirements and can be rented, their use is open to any team.
"The stadium is not only valid for each district. What is important is that it is rented, right? So it can be used there," said Sultan HB X.
The decision was taken considering that the Mandala Krida Stadium, which was previously PSIM's home ground in League 2, could not yet be used due to remaining legal issues so that the renovation process had to be delayed.
"Because it happened that at that time it was not possible because there were still legal issues concerning criminal matters, so the renovation was delayed," said the King of the Yogyakarta Palace.
