Kluivert learns valuable lessons from defeat against Japan

Indonesian national team coach Patrick Kluivert stressed that his team will learn from the crushing 0-6 defeat against Japan at Suita Stadium, Osaka Prefecture.

Kluivert wants to use the defeat in the final match of the third round of the 2026 World Cup Group C qualifiers as a valuable lesson to prepare the team as well as possible for the fourth round of the qualifying round which will be played in October.

"We need to learn from this situation. I think this is a very important learning moment. Individually, as a coach, but also as a team. We need to learn from this situation," Kluivert said at a post-match press conference at Suita Stadium, quoted from an audio recording received.

Daichi Kamada (15', 45+5'), Takefusa Kubo (19'), Ryoya Morishita (55'), Shuto Machino (58'), and Mao Hosoya (80'), were Japan's goal scorers in the match.

Not only did they win, Japan was also very dominant because Sofascore noted that they had 71 percent possession of the ball, releasing a total of 22 shots, 10 of which were big chances.
