Egypt's Supreme Committee for Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies held a meeting to review the periodic monitoring report on nuclear and radiological developments, which confirmed the complete safety of the current situation in Egypt.
The authority confirmed in a statement that there are no indications of potential radiation effects, emphasizing that it has monitoring devices operating 24 hours a day to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
The Authority also noted its ongoing and direct follow-up with relevant national entities, such as the Egyptian Meteorological Authority and the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, with whom it signed a memorandum of understanding in 2022 to enhance cooperation in this vital field.
The committee also discussed the importance of developing an awareness plan aimed at clarifying correct concepts about nuclear and radiological activities, in order to dispel any misconceptions that may spread.
The meeting resulted in key recommendations, including continued close monitoring of early warning and monitoring networks and close cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Additionally, the need to strengthen communication channels with citizens was emphasized to curb rumors and raise awareness of the importance of nuclear and radiation safety and security.
The Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority reaffirmed its full commitment to ensuring the health and safety of citizens and its pledge to provide accurate and transparent information to enhance trust and credibility.
Earlier on Friday, the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization said that radioactive contamination had been detected inside the Natanz nuclear site, but that there was no contamination outside and no cause for concern.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran confirmed, "We need to clean up the radiation inside the Natanz site and then assess the damage."
There are also fears among Egyptians of a nuclear radiation leak if Iran bombs the Israeli Dimoah nuclear reactor, located in the Negev Desert and relatively close to the Egyptian border.
