Jay Idzes apologizes to the Indonesian people

Indonesian national team captain Jay Idzes apologized to the entire nation after Garuda closed the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a 0-6 defeat by Japan at Suita Stadium, Osaka.

"I want to apologize to all Indonesian people," Idzes wrote in a post on his Instagram account on Wednesday.

The six Japanese goals were scored by Daichi Kamada, Takefusa Kubo, Ryoya Morishita, Shuto Machino and Mao Hosoya.

Japan was also very dominant with 71 percent possession, and 22 chances, 10 of which were on target.

Japan's dominance left Indonesia unable to do anything, and could have even suffered a bigger defeat if goalkeeper Emil Audero had not made four brilliant saves.
