Marc Marquez didn't expect to win the Assen MotoGP sprint

Ducati Lenovo Team racer Marc Marquez did not expect to win the 2025 MotoGP Assen Sprint Race session at the Circuit, Assen, Netherlands, Saturday local time.

The MotoGP page stated that Marquez had to take part in the Sprint Race session in less than optimal condition because he had two accidents in the practice session.

"I didn't expect to win, especially when I woke up this morning. Today was a day to sit on the sofa and watch MotoGP races from the sofa," said Marquez.

Qualifying from the front row for the second time this year in fourth, Marquez jumped to second from the line and led at the end of an opening lap that lasted 13 seconds in the sprint.
