Rashida Tlaib criticizes Trump's allocation of $30 million to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation: Support for genocide

Tlaib, who is of Palestinian descent, expressed her rejection of funding directed to the US-run, Israeli-backed organization, noting that the Israeli occupation army has targeted Gaza residents as they attempt to obtain food this month.

"Now, the Trump administration has decided to support this deadly trap with $30 million. This is genocide, and we are funding it," Tlaib said, criticizing the international community's silence regarding the Israeli killing of Palestinians while they were trying to obtain aid from centers distributed by the organization under the guise of humanitarian work.

On June 26, US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Piggott announced the approval of the funding, praising the foundation's "commendable work" and calling on other countries to support it.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) described the US-Israeli aid distribution centers in the Gaza Strip as a "killing ground," after hundreds of Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire while waiting nearby.

Earlier, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that army commanders had ordered their forces to fire on Palestinians gathered near aid centers to disperse them, even though they posed no threat.

As of Wednesday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the number of Palestinians killed while attempting to obtain US-Israeli aid since May 27 had reached approximately 549 martyrs and more than 4,066 injured.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The genocide left approximately 189,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands were displaced, and a famine claimed the lives of many, including children.
