The Ministry of Communication and Digital continues to strive to ensure that cheap internet access services with speeds of more than 100 Mbps are available in remote areas that are already covered by fixed broadband networks.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Ismail, said that currently only around 20 percent of households in Indonesia have access to fixed broadband networks , internet services that use physical infrastructure such as fiber optic cables, DSL, or coaxial cables.
"Only around 20 percent of homes have been connected, there must be a breakthrough, in addition to availability, the rates must also be affordable for the community. Downstream, we encourage fixed broadband to become cheap internet for the community," he said.
Fixed broadband networks provide internet connections in homes, offices and other fixed locations.
In order to provide fixed broadband internet access services with a speed of 100 Mbps, Kemkomdigi allocates new spectrum and an open network scheme that encourages the involvement of many parties and enables the provision of services at affordable prices.
"Komdigi will release the frequency spectrum prepared at 1.4 GHz, it is truly fixed , it cannot be used for mobile . So, this is really to catch up on the gap and the price is affordable," said Ismail.
