The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) believes that the Indonesian government needs to urge the Islamic Conference and ASEAN countries, through the United Nations (UN), to impose direct economic sanctions on Israel.
The Chairman of the Central Leadership Council (DPP) of the PDI Perjuangan said that Israel has repeatedly carried out open attacks or aggression against many countries. At least six countries have been attacked by Israel, including Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Syria, and Iraq.
"If accumulated, Israel has carried out thousands of attacks in these six countries and has not received any sanctions from the UN," Said said in a written statement.
In the long term, he continued, the Government can submit a roadmap for peace, especially in the Middle East, to the General Assembly, the Security Council, and the UN Secretary General, as a proposal for peace in the Middle East.
Most recently, Israel attacked Iran's nuclear facilities. He argued that Israel's unilateral attack clearly violated Article 4 paragraph 2 of the UN Charter, in which Iran is a sovereign state and has international legal rights.
He said that Israel's actions had the potential to trigger a nuclear war in the Middle East and have a massive impact on humanity.
