Qatar summons Iran's ambassador and condemns attack on US base at Al Udeid. Tehran: Our attack was self-defense.

The official Qatar News Agency (QNA) quoted the ministry as saying that the summons took place "today" to inform the Iranian ambassador of this position.

In its statement, the ministry clarified that it "reiterated the State of Qatar's strong condemnation of the attack on Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, considering it a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and airspace, as well as of international law and the United Nations Charter." The ministry affirmed that Qatar reserves the right to respond to this blatant violation in accordance with international law.

The agency quoted Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi as telling the Iranian ambassador that this violation "completely contradicts the principle of good neighborliness and the close relations between the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Iran." He noted that Qatar has always been an advocate of dialogue with Iran and has made strenuous diplomatic efforts in this regard.

Al-Marikhi stressed the importance of "an immediate return to dialogue and diplomatic channels to resolve disputes and outstanding issues, avoid escalation, and halt military operations in an effort to enhance regional and international stability," according to QNA.

In contrast, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the military strikes on the US Al Udeid military base in Qatar were in self-defense.

On Monday evening, Iranian state television announced the launch of a military operation dubbed "Bashaer al-Fatah," targeting the U.S. Al-Udeid base in Qatar with missiles. This was in response to the United States' targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan at dawn on Sunday.

For its part, Qatar said that one Iranian missile out of 18 launched in two batches landed at the US Al Udeid base, while the others were shot down at sea.

The region has witnessed a dangerous escalation since June 13, with Tel Aviv attacking Iranian nuclear facilities, missile bases, military leaders, and nuclear scientists. Tehran responded by bombing Israeli military and intelligence sites, resulting in deaths and injuries on both sides.

US President Donald Trump announced, early Tuesday morning, that a ceasefire agreement had been reached between Israel and Iran.
