Reducing the risk of miscarriage with prenatal care

Miscarriage in pregnant women in the first trimester is a relatively common experience during pregnancy, occurring in around 10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies.

As written by the Hindustan Times, Wednesday, Dr Sujata Rathod, consultant, obstetrician and gynecologist, KIMS Hospitals, Thane, said the first trimester has a short period of three months which is marked by acute changes and developments during pregnancy and that is why miscarriage can occur during this transformation.

"Miscarriage can be caused by factors related to chromosomal abnormalities, hormone levels, or previous medical problems. Regardless of whether the miscarriage was avoidable or not, women can continue to take certain pregnancy prevention measures," she said.
