Surgical Oncology specialist from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI) Dr. dr. Farida Briani Sobri, SpB(K)Onk said the biopsy procedure which often triggers anxiety could be the key to more precise and personalized breast cancer treatment.
"A biopsy is not only about 'knowing', but also about adjusting the most appropriate treatment steps for each individual. Through a biopsy, doctors can determine whether cells in the body are malignant, as well as understand the biological nature of cancer itself," said Dr. Farida through a press release received.
Biopsy is very important for breast cancer patients, because with a biopsy, the doctor will be able to check tumor markers (ER, PR, HER2, KI67) and determine the types of breast cancer (luminal A, luminal B, HER2-type, and TNBC) where determining the type of breast cancer is very important to determine the right treatment.
