Sabic-Formula E develops technology to accelerate electrification

Saudi Arabian company Sabic and Formula E continue to develop technology to accelerate the growth of vehicle electrification by aggressively pushing the renewable energy transition through the global Blue Hero initiative .

"What Sabic is working on is our global initiative called Blue Hero. This initiative focuses on accelerating the renewable energy transition, namely electrification, which focuses on weight reduction, (fuel) efficiency and car safety," said Sabic Regional Leader Southeast and Northeast Asia Abdullah Al-Graini in a press conference in Jakarta, Friday (20/6).

Sabic, which has been a Formula E partner since the 2022 season and has been producing materials and components for industrial electric vehicles (EVs), continues to develop components, one of which is through the Gen 3 Evo technology used by Formula E cars.

This component, which is made from plastic, has a stronger resistance to withstand heat from battery temperature, electrical charging materials and other electrically charged components.

Sabic-made components are now the components used by the 11 teams competing in the electric car tournament for the past three years.

The development carried out by Sabic together with Formula E has also become a mass product sold by a number of electric car manufacturers.

One of the developments that Sabic is currently focusing on is related to recycled plastic components that have been mass-produced.

Through the Jakarta E-prix which took place at the Jakarta International Circuit, Jakarta, Saturday (21/6), Al-Graini revealed that this was a momentum to introduce the innovations that Sabic had made, especially in the Southeast Asia region, especially Indonesia.
