The Head of the Correctional Institution revealed that the riot between inmates at the Class II A Baubau Prison was triggered by provocation by correctional inmates who were caught smuggling prohibited items into the detention block.
Class II A Baubau Prison Chief Tubagus M. Chaidir when contacted in Kendari, Saturday, said that the riot incident of the prisoners was an old incident. However, it was only in the last few days that it spread and went viral on several social media platforms.
"If I'm not mistaken, the incident occurred on June 17, 2025," said Tubagus.
After the commotion, his party immediately took quick steps to secure the warring prisoners, then discussed with the inmates to find a solution so that they would not cause such commotions again.
