Urgent action needed: Hamas: 66 children lost their lives in Gaza due to Israeli starvation

The movement added in a statement that "the government of war criminal Netanyahu has been imposing a comprehensive siege and systematic starvation on the Gaza Strip since the beginning of March 2025."

She noted that "the brutal crimes against children, including starvation, bombing, and massacres, represent a horrific violation of international humanitarian laws and values." She continued, "The occupation commits crimes knowing it is immune from accountability." She called on the world to take immediate and urgent action to halt the ongoing starvation crime.

On Friday, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced in a press statement that approximately 112 Palestinian children have been admitted to hospitals in the Gaza Strip every day to receive treatment for malnutrition since the beginning of the year, due to the stifling Israeli blockade.

Since March 2, Israel has tightly closed Gaza's crossings to trucks carrying supplies and aid, piling up at the border, allowing only a few dozen trucks into the Strip. Palestinians in Gaza need at least 500 trucks per day.

While until the end of 2024, it allowed the passage of a small number of trucks, averaging 50 aid and goods trucks per day, according to what government and field sources previously confirmed, UN reports at the time confirmed that the number of trucks entering the Strip was not equivalent to "a drop in the ocean of needs."

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The genocide left more than 189,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands were displaced, and a famine claimed the lives of many, including children.
