Palestinian medical sources said that "the occupation army released 14 prisoners from the Gaza Strip through the Kissufim Gate, southeast of the Central Governorate."
She added that "they were transported by bus and vehicles belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah (central Gaza Strip)," and explained that "the released prisoners are undergoing medical examinations at the hospital, the results of which have not yet been announced."
Examinations of prisoners previously released in batches revealed signs of torture, as well as the effects of starvation and medical neglect.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) usually transports prisoners released by Israel to hospitals for necessary medical examinations, as well as providing them with clothing and personal hygiene items.
Eyewitnesses, citing informed sources, reported that the released prisoners spent months in Israeli detention centers and suffered torture, starvation, and deliberate medical neglect.
From time to time, Israel releases Palestinian prisoners it has detained since the beginning of the genocide.
On April 17, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club (PPC) reported that Israel had arrested thousands of Palestinians from Gaza, amidst extreme secrecy and enforced disappearance.
The club did not provide a specific number for the number of Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip languishing in Israeli prisons, citing Israel's deliberate concealment of information about them and its continued detention of Palestinians from the Strip as part of its ongoing war.
However, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reported on May 29 (in an infographic) that Israel is detaining and hiding approximately 4,700 Palestinians from Gaza in its prisons.
He added, "The Observatory conducted interviews with 100 released detainees from Gaza and documented 42 forms of torture and inhumane and degrading treatment practiced against Palestinians in prisons and detention centers."
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war of genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
The genocide, with American support, left approximately 190,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and a famine that claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
