Liverpool coach Arne Slot expressed his deep sorrow over the death of the Reds striker in a car accident.
"My message is very clear, you are never alone. The players, staff and supporters of Liverpool Football Club are all with you and from what I saw today, the same goes for the football family," Slot told Liverpool's website on Friday.
The Dutch coach continued that condolences and great sympathy from various parties for this tragedy showed that Jota and his family were very much loved by everyone.
Slot said the Portuguese player was loved by all elements of the team and was a very special teammate, colleague and co-worker.
"I can say things about what he brings to our team, but anyone who watches Diogo play can see that. Hard work, desire, commitment, great quality, goals. The essence of what a Liverpool player should be," Slot said.
"A person who never seeks popularity but still gets it. Not a friend to two, but a friend to everyone. A person who makes others feel happy. A person who cares deeply for his family," he added.
