National Cyber and Crypto Agency recorded 184,359 cyber traffic anomalies related to online gambling activities in computer networks or information systems during the period from January to June 2025.
"Based on our monitoring results over the past six months, there have been more than 184 thousand traffic anomalies related to online gambling activities," said Head of BSSN RI Nugroho Sulistyo Budi during the inauguration of the Cyber Incident Response Team (TTIS) for the Bangka Belitung Province in Central Bangka Regency, Tuesday.
He explained that cyber traffic anomalies related to online gambling are not only a moral or legal issue, but also a strategic cyber threat and must be handled systematically because they have an impact on decreasing public trust in digital systems, as well as hampering the progress of Indonesia's digital transformation.
A cyber traffic anomaly is any unusual or deviant activity from normal patterns in a computer network or information system.
Nugroho also said that in terms of threat classification, the three types that appear most often are malware, system misconfiguration, and exploitation of security holes.
A number of these threats, he said, are a serious concern in efforts to maintain national cyber security.
As an institution responsible for national cybersecurity, BSSN emphasizes the importance of security in every digital transformation process in Indonesia.
"Digital transformation must be carried out safely and sustainably," he said.
Nugroho said, in handling cyber attacks, there are three main aspects that must be considered, namely technology, governance, and human resources.
"The technology must be good, the governance must be credible, and the supervisory personnel must also be competent. It is not enough to rely on sophisticated technology if the governance is weak and the human resources are not yet certified," he explained.
He said that the capacity and maturity of the Cyber Incident Response Team (TTIS) needs to be continuously improved so that it can carry out the task of handling and preventing cyber attacks optimally.
