Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria emphasized the importance of collaboration with the private sector in efforts to expand the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Indonesia.
At the launch of the AI Center of Excellence in South Jakarta on Friday, he said the government is encouraging collaboration that includes technology transfer between startups and global technology companies operating in the AI sector.
"We encourage these companies to collaborate with large corporations and global technology companies to facilitate knowledge transfer. This is also a good opportunity for Indonesia's younger generation to learn best practices from global technology companies," he said.
Universities on and off Java, he said, need to be involved in collaborations that involve the transfer of knowledge and AI technology.
"How do we ensure that all cities in Indonesia, not just cities in Java, but also cities in Papua, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, can access this technology?" he said.
