Indonesia establishes military cooperation with Papua New Guinea




 The Indonesian Ministry of Defense has established defense cooperation with the Papua New Guinea Ministry of Defense.

The cooperation was marked by the visit of the Indonesian Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, to meet the Minister of Defense of Papua New Guinea HE Dr. Billy M. Joseph.

In the official press release of the Ministry of Defense received it was explained that the meeting discussed several military cooperation.

"This visit confirms a joint commitment to strengthen non-pact defense cooperation, based on equal partnership and mutual respect," said Head of the Bureau of Information and Communications of the Ministry of Defense Secretariat General, Brigadier General Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang when confirmed.

Not only that, said Frega, the two also discussed efforts to accelerate the implementation of the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) which had been agreed upon through the formation of a joint working group .

This cooperation, Frega continued, could take the form of joint military exercises, soldier exchanges for educational purposes and military technology exchanges.

With this cooperation, Frega ensures that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea can be established strongly.
