The 0212/South Tapanuli Military District Command together with a joint security apparatus team have destroyed marijuana plants on a three-hectare plot of land in the Tor Sihite hills in Rao Rao Dolok Village, Tambangan District, Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra Province.
According to a press release from the Public Relations of the I Bukit Barisan Military Command received in Medan City on Wednesday, a joint security team led by the Dandim 0212/South Tapanuli Lieutenant Colonel Arm Delli Yudha Adi Nurcahyo discovered a marijuana plantation in an area at an altitude of 950 meters above sea level in the Tor Sihite hills.
Head of Information for the Bukit Barisan I Military Command, Colonel Inf Asrul Kurniawan Harahap, said that the joint security team found around 30,000 marijuana plants aged three to five months on the land.
"All marijuana plants found were immediately destroyed on the spot by uprooting and burning them," he said.
He added that 320 marijuana plants were secured as evidence and handed over to the intelligence staff of Kodim 0212/TS for investigation purposes.
The joint security team that discovered and destroyed the marijuana plantation in the Mandailing Natal area consisted of 44 personnel from the 0212/TS Military District Command as well as the Resort Police, the National Narcotics Agency, and the Mandailing Natal Regency Civil Service Police Unit.
Colonel Inf Asrul Kurniawan Harahap said that the Bukit Barisan I Military Command will increase patrols and cross-sector cooperation to close the space for narcotics criminals to move.
"We will take firm action against any form of illegal activity that threatens the future of the nation's future generations. This success reflects the true synergy of all elements in eradicating drugs," he said.
