Observers reveal the important role of the Indonesian National Police during the Batam-Johor RoRo operation

Police observer Poengky Indarti supports the opening of the Batam-Johor Bahru, Malaysia RoRo crossing route, but he reminded the National Police, in this case the Riau Islands Regional Police, of the important role in opening this international crossing route.

According to him, the role of the Riau Islands Regional Police is needed to prevent the Batam-Johor RoRo from becoming a new entry point for various crimes such as human trafficking and drug smuggling.

"The presence of the Batam-Johor Roro ferry will certainly require the Indonesian National Police, especially the Riau Islands Regional Police, to prepare themselves and improve the professionalism of all their members," Poengky confirmed.

The former Commissioner of the National Police Commission said that the Riau Islands Regional Police needed to carry out closer Police to Police (P to P) cooperation with the Royal Malaysian Police, especially the Johor Bahru Police.

Poengky said that previously the Riau Islands Regional Police and the Johor Bahru Police had also had close cooperation, including on issues of illegal migrant workers, terrorism, drugs, firearms and others.

"The Riau Islands Police are expected to increase crime prevention efforts, which can be carried out jointly and simultaneously with the Johor Bahru Police," he said.
