McPherson can't wait to see the Philippines battle it out against Indonesia

Philippines U-23 national team coach Garrath McPherson said he can't wait to see his team compete against hosts Indonesia in the second match of Group A of the ASEAN U-23 Championship held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.

In a training session at Field A of Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Thursday, the Australian coach admitted that he was impatient because Indonesia has a quality team, and is also a team that is difficult to beat, especially playing on its own turf.

"They have several players who have played for the senior national team. They're also playing at home. They also look very well-coached. So, it's a challenge for us," said McPherson.

"I can't wait to see our players and see how they make the most of this opportunity. Ultimately, it will be a valuable experience for the players," he added.

McPherson then said that there were no specific Indonesian players to watch out for because he chose to focus on building his own team.

Indonesia won its first match 8-0 against Brunei Darussalam, with Jens Raven scoring six of its eight goals.
