Meta develops AI chatbot that can send messages without being asked

Meta is testing a new feature in its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that allows the bot to send messages to users proactively or without being asked through prompts, based on previous conversation history.

As reported by Engadget on Friday, this feature is being developed through Meta's AI Studio software, which allows anyone to create their own interest-based AI chatbot.

The feature is known internally by data labeling company Alignerr as “Project Omni.” Its goal is to “add value to users and increase user engagement and retention,” according to a training guide leaked to Business Insider (BI).

One example of a bot mentioned in the documents is “The Maestro of Movie Magic,” a movie-themed bot that might send messages like:

"Have a great day! I was just wondering if you have any new favorite soundtracks or composers lately? Or need a movie recommendation for next weekend? Let me know, I'm here to help!"
