Russia launches Progress MS-31 cargo spacecraft

Russia successfully launched the Progress MS-31 cargo spacecraft into orbit using a Soyuz-2.1a rocket on Thursday (3/7), Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos said.

The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket took off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Xinhua reported.

The spacecraft is expected to reach the International Space Station (ISS) in about two days, precisely on Sunday (6/7) at 00.28 local time or 04.28 WIB.

The spacecraft will be in orbit for 167 days, Roscosmos said.

Progress MS-31 will deliver more than 2.6 tons of cargo to the ISS, consisting of 950 kg of fuel for refueling, 50 kg of nitrogen to replenish the ISS atmosphere, 420 kg of drinking water, as well as food, clothing, hygiene products and medical supplies for the crew.

In addition, the spacecraft also transports equipment and consumables for station maintenance and repair, as well as for experimental purposes.
