Sinner beats Alcaraz to win Wimbledon title

Five weeks after his heartbreak at Roland Garros, Jannik Sinner turned things around at Wimbledon to exact revenge on Carlos Alcaraz and win his fourth Grand Slam title.

Competing in her maiden Wimbledon final, the world number one defeated the Spaniard 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in a thrilling match to become the first Italian to win the Wimbledon singles title.

"It's very emotional, because I had a very tough loss in Paris," Sinner said at the trophy ceremony, as broadcast by the ATP.

"But in the end, it doesn't matter how you win or lose in an important tournament, you just have to understand your mistakes and try to correct them, and that's what we did."

"We tried to accept the defeat and keep trying. That's definitely one of the reasons I'm holding this trophy here. I'm so grateful to be healthy and surrounded by great people, and holding this trophy means a lot," said the 23-year-old.
