Liverpool FC manager Arne Slot has expressed his deepest respect for the late Diogo Jota, who died in a traffic accident in Spain last week.
In an official club interview ahead of the friendly against Preston North End, Slot described Jota as a champion who will always be remembered in the hearts of the entire Liverpool family.
"He's a player who always comes through in difficult situations and delivers something special. We will always carry him with us, in our hearts and minds, wherever we go," Slot said, as quoted on Liverpool's official website on Sunday.
Jota and his younger brother, Andre Silva, died in a tragic accident that shocked European and global football. As a mark of respect, Liverpool decided to permanently retire Jota's number 20 shirt.
