The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration has deported XP, a Chinese citizen who is a fugitive from the Chinese government, on suspicion of committing fraud in his country with a total loss of 12,698,600 yuan or around Rp28.5 billion.
"We deported XP on Saturday, July 12, 2025, via I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on a plane to Guangzhou," said Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday.
Yuldi explained that XP, who was found guilty of fraud by the Guangzhou Prosecutor's Office in January 2015, was arrested in the Tabanan area, Bali (10/7).
XP's arrest was based on a cyber patrol conducted by the Directorate General of Immigration's Investigation Sub-Directorate. XP was also found to lack a residence permit.
"XP was arrested at his residence on July 10, 2025, at 01.30 WITA by a joint team from the Investigation Sub-Directorate and officers from the Denpasar Class I TPI Immigration Office," said Yuldi.
Following his arrest, XP was taken to the Denpasar Immigration Office for further questioning. The Chinese government's most wanted man was briefly held in detention before being deported to his home country.
"This [deportation] process fully complies with applicable legal provisions, while prioritizing humanitarian aspects and the principles of international cooperation," Yuldi confirmed.
Yuldi said the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration maintains good communication and collaboration with various countries, particularly regarding the exchange of data and information on foreigners.
This step was taken to ensure that foreign citizens who are in trouble do not flee to Indonesia to avoid the punishment that ensnares them.
According to Yuldi, the arrest of this international fugitive is proof of the commitment of the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration in assisting foreign partners ( counterparts ) in carrying out law enforcement efforts against perpetrators of transnational crimes.
