The Israeli occupation approves the demolition of Sheikh Ekrima Sabri's home in Jerusalem after pressure from extremist groups.

According to Palestinian media, the Jerusalem District Court's decision came in response to a request from the extremist Jewish Voice group to demolish Sheikh Ekrima Sabri's home, claiming it lacked a permit.

Israeli police and forces stormed the vicinity of the Al-Sawana building, where Sheikh Sabri lives, and handed its residents a final demolition order, giving them just three days to evacuate, according to local media.

The report stated that the occupation forces stormed the building in early December 2023 and served its residents with a demolition order, despite the fact that it had been built since 1998 and was home to 100 Jerusalemites divided among 17 families, including the family of the imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the head of the Supreme Islamic Council.

The first demolition order was issued in 2003 on the grounds of lacking a permit, and residents have paid hefty fines to the occupation municipality over the years.

Sheikh Sabri, who is approximately 86 years old, left his home after receiving promises from the occupation authorities to halt the demolition. However, the occupation authorities broke their promise and implemented the decision.

Sheikh Sabri faces a series of administrative violations and legal prosecutions, supported by Israeli political figures, amid escalating threats from extremist groups directly targeting him.
