The Ministry of Communication and Digital is targeting regulations governing artificial intelligence (AI) technology to enter the legislative stage in early August 2025.
"We hope it will be ready by the end of this month (July) or early next month (August). So, it has been discussed across ministries," said R. Wijaya Kusumawardhana, Expert Staff for Socio-Economic and Cultural Affairs, at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Office.
According to him, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology is currently undergoing cross-ministerial and institutional discussions regarding AI regulations. Once these discussions reach an agreement, the draft regulations will be submitted to the Ministry of Law for further legislative approval.
