The Indonesian badminton team is reluctant to be complacent despite having achieved two landslide victories against Myanmar (110-47) and Macau (110-72) in Group B of the 2025 Asian Junior Championships (BAJC) at the Manahan Indoor Sports Hall, Solo.
The Red and White squad immediately shifted their focus and aimed for a perfect result when they faced Singapore in the next match.
"Today's two matches will certainly be used as evaluation material for us so that we can perform even better in the future," said Indonesian team manager Eng Hian in a written statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association.
Despite sweeping up wins, Eng Hian revealed that there were still technical obstacles and the players' mental readiness when entering the field.
According to him, in a fast-paced 11-point match system, even the slightest loss of focus can have a significant impact on a team's points tally.
"Preparation involves warming up, focus, and strategy. This is a key focus for coaches, ensuring that athletes are truly ready to compete when they step onto the field," he said.
Facing Singapore in their next match, Indonesia will rotate its players while maintaining their best performance. Players who have shown positive contributions in the previous two matches will certainly be given back their trust.
"We will prepare a better formation for the match against Singapore. We will bring back several players who have performed impressively," he said.
Based on the coaching team's analysis, Singapore's strength is relatively equal to Myanmar's.
However, Indonesia remains fully focused on maintaining its performance and ensuring it advances to the next round as group winners.
"The most important thing is that the boys can maintain their momentum and maximize every opportunity. We will strive to give our best in every match," said Eng Hian.
Apart from Singapore, in the group phase, Indonesia also still has another match remaining against Malaysia.
