Mexicali, March 10.- 50 percent of the population in the age ranges eligible for the COVID-19 booster shot has not attended vaccination centers, said state Health Undersecretary Abraham Félix Moss.
"People's behavior at vaccination invitations hasn't been what we expected; there's a clear decline in the number of people attending, which is why we've had to reduce the number of vaccination sites," he added.
Right now, all age groups are open, he said, with nearly a million people still waiting to receive the booster shot. He explained that immunity is not the same and that protection is lost.
Regarding how many Baja Californians were vaccinated in the United States, he indicated that it is not easy, since the neighboring country does not keep electronic records like Mexico does, but instead manages them on paper.
Finally, he emphasized that those who have yet to receive the booster should go to the health centers where they are being provided, which currently have 117,000 doses of AstraZeneca.
