Tijuana, February 9 – It is estimated that an average of 70 percent of the dark-brown vehicles registered with Invec meet the requirements for legalization under the presidential decree , said Jorge Alberto Torres Topete, director of the Sustainable Mobility Institute.
“Regarding the age of the vehicles and their origin, around 75 or 80 percent are compliant.”
He noted that since the start of Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda's administration, the registration of foreign cars maintained at the Institute of Vehicle Identity and Pollution Control (Invec) has been closed; however, those who applied for the aforementioned registry will not be reimbursed.
"We closed the registry. They haven't been registering new ones since the decree was issued. There are 109,000 registrations in the state, some of which are obviously in Tijuana."
