Carlos Alcaraz secured a convincing victory in the second round of the US Open making a strong statement to his potential semifinal opponent, Novak Djokovic, who is still searching for his best form.
Second seed Alcaraz defeated Italian Mattia Bellucci 6-1, 6-0, 6-3, a far cry from his shock defeat last year to Botic van de Zandschulp in the same round.
"I played well from the beginning until the last ball," Alcaraz said in an on-court interview after the match, as broadcast by the ATP.
