Mexico City, May 26.—Confirming that he has received a formal invitation from the United States government to participate in the Summit of the Americas, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said today that he will wait to decide whether he will attend.
He reiterated that his presence will be conditional on no one being excluded from the meeting, but "tomorrow we will define the situation regarding the summit, because we are evaluating a number of factors."
Asked about Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel's refusal to attend the meeting, he responded: "That's another matter. Whoever doesn't want to go, let them not go, but let's not exclude anyone."
He clarified that the invitation arrived five days after the date it was issued, "I'll see about it," but, he insisted, it will most likely be decided tomorrow whether he will attend the meeting.
