Mexico City, October 14.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador pledged to investigate whether federal government suppliers include companies involved in capital flight schemes to concentrate capital in tax havens , as recently revealed in an international investigation known as the Pandora Papers .
In Mexico alone, there are reportedly 3,000 companies and individuals involved in this dynamic, suspected of tax evasion .
At the morning press conference at the National Palace, he was asked about an alleged supply of the National Guard to a company mentioned in the Pandora Papers .
“It needs to be investigated. I’m going to ask Rosa Icela Rodríguez (Secretary of Security) to inform us about these contracts , and also keep in mind that there are many of them . It’s unfortunate that this is happening because it’s a money grab . We have to see if it’s legal and if it’s not tax evasion. But there are around 3,000 companies or individuals taking their money . There are all kinds of people, artists and even intellectuals around the world , but in Mexico there are around 3,000.”
