BC Congress calls for expediting adoption and custody processes

Mexicali, July 29. The state congress urged the Baja California State Attorney General's Office for the Protection of Children and Adolescents to hire specialized personnel to carry out custody and adoption procedures.

This was proposed by local representative Santa Alejandrina Corral Quintero, who explained that these procedures are hampered by a lack of personnel and resources in the Attorney General's Office.

She emphasized that in Baja California, adoption and custody procedures are hampered by lengthy and complicated bureaucratic processes, which delays the resolution of cases and prolongs the time minors spend in care centers.

The request also calls for avoiding delays in issuing court rulings that resolve custody and family coexistence disputes involving minors.

In this regard, they also request a reduction in the time required to issue opinions, assessments, or psychological studies that must be carried out in adoption matters.
