Mexicali, July 5.- The Baja California Amnesty Law's ruling is ready and will be submitted to the full local Congress in the coming weeks, announced the president of the Political Coordination Board, Representative Rocio Adame Muñoz.
He mentioned that it is undergoing final analysis and is ready to be submitted to the full House for consideration by the 25 deputies who make up the Baja California Congress.
He said it's about supporting prisoners who committed minor crimes, meaning those who didn't use violent methods.
At the national level, the Amnesty Law came into force on April 23, 2020, at the initiative of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Its purpose was to free people who were imprisoned for minor crimes.
Adame Muñoz emphasized that 16 entities are working on legislation on the issue, which primarily seeks to support prisoners who committed errors in cases where no violent incidents occurred.
The opinion on the new law is before the Government Commission, and it will be decided in the next few sessions.

The coordinator of the Morena faction in the local Congress also said they are about to discuss the creation of a Family Code for Baja California.
