Bureaucracy and teachers protest against the ISSSTECALI reform

Tijuana, November 24.- Dozens of people from the bureaucracy and teaching profession held a caravan that ended at the Mexico Monument, to peacefully protest against the ISSSTECALI reform.

One of the main reasons they are protesting is that retirement will be extended to age 68 if this reform is approved.

New reform

According to the protesters, this new reform violates their labor rights and guarantees, since they are the ones who have contributed to their pensions during their active employment.

Professor Mónica Nagera, coordinator of Unidos por la Defensa de ISSSTECALI (United for the Defense of ISSSTECALI) for the Teaching Profession, mentioned that 138,000 beneficiaries, 27,000 retirees, 10,000 from the Teaching Profession, and 7,000 from the Bureaucracy will be affected by this new law.

Furthermore, I point out that the government owes 7 billion pesos to ISSSTECALI, with Tecate and Ensenada being the main debtors.
