Tijuana, August 28. The Tijuana State Public Services Commission (CESPT) and the Corporación del Fuerte signed an agreement to launch the Non-Revenue Water Recovery Project in the Municipality of Tijuana.
With an investment of 7 million 214 thousand 624 pesos, the project aims to recover at least 392 thousand cubic meters of unaccounted water annually in the Libertad and Otay Universidad hydrometric sectors.
To achieve this, up to a thousand sensors will be installed in the AP network to detect non-visible leaks , which will collect and analyze information using artificial intelligence.
Infrastructure improvements will also be made with the construction and pressure management of the ERP subsector in the Río Oriente Zone to recover at least 50,000 cubic meters of water annually.
CESPT Director Jesús García Castro explained that water reaches El Carrizo through the San Luis Río Colorado-Tijuana aqueduct, and leaks occur when it is distributed to homes, resulting in thousands of liters of water going uncounted because they do not pass through users' meters.
He indicated that by reducing loss margins, the state-owned company generates savings, which it seeks to use to eliminate backlogs in the neighborhoods .
