Chocolate decree to be amended to eliminate customs clearance procedures

Ciudad Juárez, February 18.- The federal government will implement a new reform to the operating rules for the regularization of foreign cars known as "chocolate" to prevent users from having to resort to a customs agent to obtain an import permit.

At today's morning press conference at this border, the President said that during his stay in Tijuana, he learned that the cost of the procedure had increased, and he had offered that it would cost between 2,500 and 3,000 pesos.

He then gave the floor to Secretary of the Interior Adán Augusto López, who explained that the reform would be published and customs agencies would no longer be necessary.

The Interior Minister explained that in addition to the 2,500 pesos, only the state ownership fee and license plates will be paid, and efforts will be made to expedite the process.
