Mexico City, December 14.- The Federal Public Defender's Office (IFDP) launched a class action lawsuit on social media against Ticketmaster due to complaints about online ticket purchases. In an interview, Elvira Chávez Maldonado, legal advisor to the federal agency, said that at least 30 people are required to initiate a civil lawsuit against the company. To do so, affected parties must send their name, state, contact information, and the issue to ajcdmx_ifdp@correo.cjf.gob.mx. They will then be required to present their tickets, proof of payment, and account statement.
"There are many people who bought tickets through this system and were denied entry to a performance or event, so in order to obtain a refund, we require these documents. They are important because they are attached to the application. We will then contact them at the offices located at 22 and 24 Bucareli Street, Centro neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc City Hall."
He also asked those affected to contact Defensatel at 800 22 42 42 6, as well as through the IFDP's social media channels.
The legal advisor explained that the institute has the authority to assist citizens in filing civil lawsuits before district courts if a company has committed any illegality in its purchase.
