Tijuana, May 29. The construction and upcoming operation of the railway export customs office in Tijuana is essential for Baja California's position as a key logistics hub within the international network, offering the potential to connect the San Diego and Los Angeles corridors, in addition to expanding opportunities for the exchange, storage, processing, and export of goods, stated Representative Araceli Geraldo Núñez.
This infrastructure represents a strategic and structural advance of high impact for the economy of Baja California and for the logistical integration of Mexico with the United States, said the legislator when speaking about the importance of these projects for international trade.
According to a press release, the representative emphasized before the State Congress that Baja California is the only state in the country with rail infrastructure and no active exports, despite having more than a thousand established industries.
He considered that "this limitation has created logistical bottlenecks that prevent many companies from operating at full production capacity, due to the time and restrictions faced by road transport."
According to the statement, the Morena legislator said that the project promoted by the federal government is accompanied by the modernization of the Tijuana–San Ysidro crossing. #This modernization, supervised by the Ministry of National Defense, not only enables the crossing, but also sets a precedent for the design of railway customs offices nationwide.
