Tijuana, September 13. The State Attorney General's Office must find and arrest the killer of Kevin Yael González García, said Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, warning that the "details" of who killed the 14-year-old are still missing. She stated that she immediately contacted the minor's parents after they reported him missing on September 2.
"The details of who killed him are still pending; I think we can applaud when the Prosecutor's Office tells us the name and surname of the person who took this minor's life," the mayor said.
Regarding statements by Kevin's parents that the Tijuana municipal police failed to assist them when they reported the teenager missing, Mayor Montserrat Caballero stated that she contacted the González García family "immediately."
"I contacted the family immediately; I have conversations with the father, and he told me he was very grateful, with the grief that overwhelms him, and I was there from the first moment," he said, adding that they will have to modify the protocol so that searches will be carried out immediately by the municipal police.
"We need to implement a stricter protocol; a child can't get lost and spend two, three, four, or six hours there. We need a stricter protocol," she said when asked about the murder of Kevin Yael on the Black Bridge, which crosses the Tijuana River from the Santa Fe neighborhood.
Montserrat Caballero announced that, due to the lack of additional police officers, they will use drones to monitor the bridge where Yael was allegedly murdered.
"Since I don't have police, I'm going to request drones to expand surveillance; thanks to drone surveillance, we were able to find the boy from Cumbres," he explained.
The mayor urged the public to report crimes through the purple button app or by calling 911: "The purple button or directly. For example, I answered this call on my page. I'm always available," she stated.
