Extreme caution urged due to Santa Ana winds in Tijuana and Tecate


 Tijuana, January 8.- Due to the presence of Santa Ana winds in Tijuana and Tecate, Civil Protection and Firefighters urged citizens to exercise extreme caution, as they can "generate risky conditions." 

To safeguard security, the following recommendations were urged:

  • Avoid burning trash, grasslands, or campfires, as these conditions can lead to large fires.
  • Stay away from billboards, trees, palm trees, or objects that could fall to avoid accidents.
  • Keep out of reach of flammable objects, matches, or fireworks, as they increase the risk of fire.
  • Identify any downed cables or power lines and report them immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Take extra precautions with windows, doors, and loose objects outdoors that can be blown away by the wind.

In case of emergency, citizens should immediately call 911, where they will be assisted by the relevant authorities and provided the necessary assistance.

Forecast for Tijuana

According to Civil Protection, winds of 25 to 45 km/h are expected in Tijuana during the day, with higher gusts inland, canyons, and high points, where they could reach 65 km/h with gusts of up to 100 km/h.
