Faced with threats, Montserrat Caballero will move to a military barracks.

Tijuana, June 12. Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez confirmed that she will move to the military barracks due to the threats she has received, which she attributed to the municipal police's success in combating organized crime. She admitted to being afraid because "one is not made of rubber," but emphasized that when she accepted the position of mayor, she made a commitment to the citizens.

In a press conference on Monday, he said he will temporarily change his residence this week; he clarified that he will not be going to the Morelos barracks, where the military commanders live, but rather "with the troops," at the 28th Battalion facilities in the El Rubí neighborhood.

He explained that in addition to security, he made the decision to reduce the number of bodyguards because "it's very burdensome" and he prefers they carry out their assigned security duties.

"Remember that we've seized more than 1,500 weapons belonging to criminals and arrested more than 56 perpetrators of violence. They're upset with the results we've achieved through our police, and I've received threats. That's why I'm going to move back to the barracks."
