Mexico City, December 29.- During the past year, the Ministry of the Navy (Semar) seized more than 12,000 kilograms of various drugs in operations carried out on the coast, in ports, and at sea.
The agency detailed that the states with the most seizures were Colima, Baja California, and Sinaloa; cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana were the main narcotics seized, followed by fentanyl and heroin.
In 2021, naval personnel inactivated nearly 55,000 kilograms of drugs using techniques such as incineration. These actions are the result of coordinated efforts and close collaboration between this institution and other agencies, which contribute to weakening the drug production and distribution of criminal groups operating in the country, as these seizures significantly affect their financial and operational structure.
Also noteworthy is the actions of naval personnel last January when, through intelligence, surveillance, and crime deterrence operations, they seized a laboratory dedicated to the production of methamphetamines in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora.
