The Council for Domestic Violence may make recommendations to government agencies

Mexicali, May 3. The full State Congress approved Opinion No. 133 of the Committee on Government, Legislation, and Constitutional Affairs regarding a proposed reform of Article 9 of the Law on the Prevention and Attention to Domestic Violence.

Local representatives approved granting the Council for the Care and Prevention of Domestic Violence in Baja California legal tools that would allow it to participate in the design of the state program to address this issue.

Among the main reasons detailed in the explanatory statement that justify the legislative change, is that the problem of domestic violence reaches more than 20 percent of incidence in the entity . 

Furthermore, government programs have not been sufficient to definitively resolve the problem of domestic violence .

The council may propose to the state executive branch and municipal departments the necessary recommendations for the effective implementation of the actions under its responsibility regarding the care and prevention of domestic violence.
