Fire in SD causes damage to 7 structures and 3 vehicles

Tijuana, September 1.- The fire that started yesterday in southern San Diego, California, has caused damage to three homes, three shed-type structures, three vehicles, and one commercial structure. It has grown to 1,795.99 hectares (4,438 acres). It has barely maintained 14 percent control, and the Tecate port of entry remains closed, along with several roads. The fire has grown very little, CalFire San Diego added on Twitter.

The weather has complicated efforts to put out the fire. “The southern front of the fire is already under control, so right now it doesn't pose a risk to the municipality (Tecate), (…) what we have been anticipating since yesterday is the air quality,” said Tecate Mayor Darío Benítez during a press conference.

Due to the winds, the fire shifted eastward, but in case it heads toward the border, they are prepared and coordinating with other municipalities to provide support, although he assured that there are short bushes in Mexico, which would make control work less complicated.
