Ensenada, January 10.- Four forest fires are burning in different parts of Ensenada, one of them in the Bajamar area, near the highway to Tijuana, the port's Fire Department announced.
The largest fire occurred in Ojos Negros, where approximately 1,000 hectares have already been consumed by the fire. Since Wednesday, the Fire Department's forestry division has been working in conjunction with the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), while members of the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) joined the effort today.
At Bajamar, a well-known golf club located near Sempra and the viewing platform on the Ensenada-Tijuana highway, the situation remains active. During the night, volunteers from La Misión, along with firefighters from San Antonio de las Minas and Francisco Zarco, worked to contain the fire, and currently, efforts in this area are being carried out exclusively by volunteers.
Another major fire is affecting the Esteban Cantú community, where firefighters from the Chapultepec and Maneadero fire stations continue to battle the blaze.
The Fire Department also reported that fires were reported overnight in the Guadalupe Valley, which have already been brought under control and are not included in the latest official report.
Authorities recommend the public remain alert and follow official instructions as the Santa Ana weather persists, which is conducive to the spread of wildfires.
