Tijuana, August 30. State Attorney General María Elena Andrade Ramírez did not rule out the possibility that more Ensenada municipal agents could be involved in the events that led to the arrest of four municipal officers during an operation carried out Thursday night at the municipal facilities.
Although the identities of the four detainees have not been released, the names of three have emerged: Carlos "N", Esteban "N", and Raúl "N", and on Friday morning, the mayor of Ensenada, Carlos Ibarra Aguilar, confirmed that three are involved and are being investigated for events that occurred this year.
The investigation under NUC-0201-2024-2162 is for aggravated homicide, criminal association, forced disappearance, and abuse of authority.
"Yesterday, an operation was carried out that had never been seen in Baja California for many years, or even before, involving the Ensenada Municipal Police because we had evidence of the possible involvement of officers from that corporation who were unfortunately recruited by organized crime," he stated.
He mentioned that four arrest warrants have been executed to date, "and we do not rule out that as the investigation continues, more officers could be involved."
Regarding the case of the detainees, Andrade Ramírez stated that "there is evidence that they may have participated in the commission of high-impact crimes, such as disappearances and homicides related to high-impact criminal groups."
Andrade Ramírez was interviewed by the media in San Diego, California, where she signed a memorandum of understanding with the San Diego County District Attorney's Office—in which the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, the Women's Justice Center, and civil society organizations participate—to assist victims of violence and human trafficking and combat this crime.
